Shaman-passage

The figure of a shaman wearing wolf skin and a deer-mask with a shaman tree pointing both to the underworld and to heaven. Ancient Hungarians' belief, similar to the religions of other East Asian people, was shamanism.

The shaman (the so called 'Táltos' in the Hungarian folklore) was a spiritual leader, priest, soothsayer and healer at once. His knowledge was obtained through superhuman efforts during his clinbs up and down the shaman tree.

In contemporary terms, shamanic trance can be understood as a psychic transformation, which opens up whole areas otherwise inaccessible to everyday thinking, showing the secret depths and heights of human existence.
